An intense spice blend, incense, and dry earth.

Named after the biblical three wise men — or rather as in the original Greek Gospel of Matthew, an unspecified number of magi. The term is derived from the Old Persian maguŝ referring to Zoroastrian priests, in ancient times highly regarded for their knowledge of astrology; sometimes associated with sorcery and the occult due to their religious practices. In the story they are said to have come from “the rising [sun]”, probably meaning somewhere in modern day Iran, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. This charming imagery, a distorted occidental perspective, of wizards hauling aromatic tree resins guided through the desert by mystical signs in the night sky, is the conceptual basis of this fragrance.
